Norway House Cree Nation is seeking the services of a Pharmacy Retail Supervisor – Full Time Permanent

The Pharmacy Retail Supervisor supervises the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department. The supervisor helps train and oversee the pharmacy staff, ensures that all company and jurisdictional rules are followed, and generally ensures that the pharmacy operates in a safe and efficient manner. He/she is also typically a key customer service provider for the pharmacy department and works to resolve any issues related to that. Much of the work the retail pharmacy supervisor does will be hands-on alongside other pharmacy staff. The supervisor assists with customer interactions, prescription fulfillment, and processing transactions at point-of-sale equipment or cash registers.

The supervisor will be expected to ensure that all procedures for dispensing prescription medication are correctly followed. This can involve ensuring that all measurement and counting procedures are followed in all cases. The pharmacy supervisor will ensure that all bar-coded medications are properly scanned and that all medicinal transactions create traceable records in accordance with the retail operator’s rules and any federal or local regulations. The pharmacy supervisor will also be the point person for training these procedures and demonstrating their proper use to new hires in the department. He/she will also participate in interviewing, hiring, and any periodic employee reviews for this department. Supervisors must have excellent interpersonal skills to resolve customer service issues and address employee concerns.

  • Ability to plan and organize a heavy workload, under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated time management, conflict resolution and analytical skills required while working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize workload and maintain focus with frequent interruptions and spontaneous requests for assistance
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and the ability to speak Cree are considered assets
  • Must have a satisfactory Canadian Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry and Vulnerable Sector Check (may be required).
  • The selected candidate will have to undergo and pass drug testing as per the Norway House Cree Nation policy.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively promote the Norway House Pharmacy image within the community by encouraging a positive profile through participation and leadership in the community, as well as initiatives focusing on Health and Wellness.
  • Demonstrate outstanding sales ability, leadership capabilities, and contribute to the overall store concept by bringing plenty of energy, enthusiasm, passion and strong communication skills
  • Identify ways in which front shop and pharmacy programs intersect and ensure communication to maximize customer interface is smooth and seamless towards achieving exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee human resource activities, which include recruitment, training, certification, developing and motivating staff, performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures
  • Ensure that the store achieves and maintains budgeted sales, gross profit, inventory targets, labour costs, shrinkage, and controllable store expenses.
  • Lead and inspire store staff-“hands-on” approach in identifying and responding to issues on time, motivating employees to perform above expectations.

Experience

  • Previous retail management experience (including responsibility for purchasing, Loss Prevention, as well as inventory control and human resources and people management)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive the business, lead by example and support corporate programs
  • Works effectively with the management team
  • Superior interpersonal, coaching and communication skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Strong relationship builder with key internal and external agencies

The ability to communicate in Cree is a definite asset!
