As previously shared in Norway House Cree Nation Council’s April 8, 2026 notice (available on the NHCN website) regarding the run-off election process.
Preparations are moving forward to ensure the election can be conducted fairly and in accordance with the required timelines, including the provision of mail-in ballots.
The Appeal Committee’s decision on whether the Chief election resulted in a tie remains outstanding. This decision will confirm whether a run-off election is required.
Due to timing requirements set out in the EPA, the run-off election process cannot be delayed. However, members should be aware that the Appeal Committee’s decision may affect whether the run-off proceeds.
I have been advised that if a run-off election is not required, members will be notified as soon as possible, including through the NHCN website.
