Update on the fire at Kiskitoo. It is still burning out of control and is a concern now with the wind shift, it is heading to PR 373. It is 8 km away from the road at Minago bridge. Fire has grown to 4000 hectares. Norway House RCMP have been advised. If road closure does occur, RCMP will be notified and they will inform us.
The other one that was a threat to Cross Lake is under control. Cross Lake evacuated their high risk people with 2 escorts each and are monitoring their fire. They started on Saturday. They had three charters scheduled to pick up the rest of the priority population but EMO cancelled and re-routed them to Lynn Lake and Sherridon
There were new fire starts this past weekend; one near Wabowden which may have been started by the train and the other in Lynn Lake; 1 in Easterville, Sherridon, Lynn Lake, Flin Flan
I am told we are in for bad smoky conditions tomorrow. We cannot evacuate because of poor air quality. Priority is given to communities threated by fires close to their com munitis.
All Highways in the north are still open, but some may be difficult to drive in due to nearby fires and heavy smoke. RCMP will advise us if roads are closed.
We are still in high extreme area with high potential of fire- red zone. So please follow the restrictions below. Our FNSOs will be patrolling NHCN to ensure there is no open fires or grass fires.
The restrictions not only applies within our community but in our resource area. If you go camping, please ensure everyone follows these restrictions.

You all have been so good to date and we thank you for that. You demonstrated that during covid when restrictions were laid down, you listened. Thank you very much. We will get through this too!!!
